Poetic Gestures

I participated in a collective exhibition in Porto Alegre

Poetic Gestures is the name of the visual exhibition that brings together works by 26 artists from different states at the Art100 Gallery in Porto Alegre. From December 8 to 30, 2023, the exhibition seeks to show the diversity of styles that exist in the sensitivity of each artist. Some say that art is a form of growth towards freedom, a path to life.

The curator is Thomas Josué Silva, Associate Professor at the Federal University of Pampa. The researcher and professor is dedicated to studying the interfaces between art and sociocultural diversity. According to him: “In a world inhabited by so many uncertainties, talking about poetry is almost heresy. But what would this world be without poetry? An arid desert of restless, dissatisfied souls. We cannot deny that our reality is a scenario full of false promises about aesthetic happiness without pain or suffering. A palliative society, as philosopher Byung Chul Han tells us. In light of this, the Poetic Gestures exhibition can be a gentle or painful message, which these artists envision with their diversity of styles and languages, offering us gestures of beauty and silence in a world in turmoil.”

The artists participating in Poetic Gestures are: Ara Vilela, Cris Hettich, Cristhina Bastos, Carmem Gusmão, Denise Wichmann, Erika Martins, Fernanda Leal, Gisele Faganello, Hellen Albuquerque, Heloisa Zorzi, Izilda Werner, Ita Stockinger, Joyce Chwartzmann, Juarez Oliveira, Justina D Agostin, Léo Stockinger, Mauro Kersul, Mariella Horianskï, Paula Loraine, Roger Monteiro, Ricardo Massolini, Sandra Lages, Silvana Ravena, Simone Bellusci, Thomas Josué Silva and Valéria Oliveira.
